Jean A. Lewis

Jean A. Lewis December 8, 1936 August 12, 2016 Coudersport - Jean Amund- son Lewis, 79, a resident of Sweden Valley Manor, and formerly of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, with her loving family gathered around her. At Jean's request, there was no public visitation and a private service for the family was held on Sunday, August 14, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse, with Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Jean was the twin daughter of Robert Amundson and Francis Magnuson Timlin-Buskirk born on December 8, 1936, in Punxsutawney. Her surviving sister, Joan, is married to James North and resides in DuBois. Jean was a graduate of the Port Allegany High School and completed the training as a Registered Nurse in Sharon. She married Norman A. Lewis after completing her education and remained a full time stay at home Mom, raising and training her four children in Howard. She is survived by her loving children, Bradley A. Lewis (Beth), of Shinglehouse, Cheryl A. Gardner (Raymond), of Bellefonte; Brian S. Lewis (Stefanie), also of Bellefonte, and N. Andrew Lewis (Robin), of Port Matilda. She was very proud of her 10 grandchildren, Amber, Josh, Cara, Benton, Ashley, Jaclyn, Britney, Austin, Andrew, and Ethan; as well as her 16 great grandchildren. Nothing gave Jean greater pleasure than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many days she attended family activities at school, church, athletic events, and in her community that gave her a sense of pride. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and maintained an apartment on East Howard Street in Bellefonte. Jean enjoyed doing word puzzles, playing cards and competing with friends and family in a game or two of Rummikub. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choosing in Jean's name.
