State College, Pennsylvania - Robert Ronald Rightmyer Jr., 90, of State College, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025. Born on November 23, 1934, in Ithaca, New York, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.

After serving in the United States Army for two years, Robert pursued his passion for learning, graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1959 with a degree in Engineering. His academic journey continued at prestigious institutions such as Cornell University Graduate School of Business, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Kansas State University, reflecting his relentless pursuit of excellence.

Robert's career in communications and intelligence took him to nearly every state in the U.S., as well as international assignments in the Middle East, Africa, and South Korea. His work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact on many communities and colleagues around the world.

Robert was an active member of St. Paul's Methodist Church of State College.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife for 40 years, Shirley, their two sons, who will forever cherish his memory and the legacy he left behind. He will be remembered for his boundless curiosity, love for his family, and unwavering dedication to his pursuits.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor and celebrate Robert's life 10:00am, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Inurnment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.

Bob was one of a kind! He was always a favorite client of ours at University Drive Veterinary Hospital. He knew how to spread joy! And he loved to talk about skiing! We will all miss him.

Shirley & family,
It was with deep regret that Linnea and I read of Bob's passing in Sunday's obituaries. He left a lasting impression on all of us who worked at the Borough and were privileged to witness Bob's annual budget critique at council meetings. He was an engaged resident who always made a favorable impact on his community. And we will always remember bumping into you two just by chance while skiing at Okemo. What were the odds of staying at the very same hotel at the same time! Our condolences to you and the rest of the family.

Bob was such a wonderful friend. We loved passing by their house any time of the day and Bob and Shirley would be sitting outside their garage talking to friends and neighbors. We will miss Bob so much but we will always be there for our friend Shirley. We love them both.

i may have only gotten to know him for roughly a year, while taking care of him and Shirley. Mr Rightmyer was a very interesting man.
We had many long talks when he would come to get his car worked on. He had knowledge on almost any subject, and I learned a lot from him.
I am very sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

He was a very dear, helpful neighbor and a mentor to my son. If I couldn't do it myself, I knew I could always ask Bob. He had such an engaging smile and I will be forever grateful for all his good deeds. We truly lost a good one.
