Steven Borger Obituary

Steven Hoyt Borger April 12, 1962 - November 26, 2007 Steven Hoyt Borger, 45, of Moshannon, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on April 12, 1962, he is the son of the late Alfred W. "Sonny" Borger and Janet L. Carter Borger who survives in Moshannon. On June 4, 1983, in Moshannon, he married Laurie A. Johnsonbaugh who survives at home. Steven was a 1980 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School and a 1980 graduate of the Centre County Vo-tech, where he studied Auto Mechanics. He was employed as a Parts Manager at Confer-Workman Auto Sales in Bellefonte. Along with his mother and wife, Steven is survived by one son, Hoyt A. Borger, one daughter, Sierra A. Borger both at home, and one brother, Jeffrey A. Borger of Reedsville. Steven was very active in his church and serving his Lord. He was a Lay Speaker, an Elder, a Sunday School Teacher, a Youth Group Leader, a member of the Church Governoring Board, an Usher, a member of the Missions Committee, and has led the Men's Prayer Group. He was involved with the Puppets with a Purpose of CPCI in State College and helped organize the Mountaintop Puppets Team in his church. His service to God has shown and guided many around him on their own path to Christ. Steven's true desire was to be a full time missionary overseas. He went on several mission trips to Peru, Dominican Republic and Poland. He enjoyed hunting, being in the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. A cherished father, husband, son, and friend, his precious memory and lessons that he taught is a blessing that will never be forgotten. Friends will be received on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at 10 a.m., at the Mountaintop Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 675 E. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe with Pastor Douglas Mottin officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Askey Cemetery, Snow Shoe Township. Laurie, Hoyt and Sierra
I know words cannot lessen the pain and sorrow that you are enduring now but just know that you are in so many people's prayers at this time. Steve was loved by so many and it is a great thing that he was able to touch as many lives (all for serving God) that he did.

I stop and start to think,
All these thoughts running through my head.
My emotions are so high,
They just keep flying by.
I stop and ask myself,
Why it had to be you.
I pray for understanding,
Of why it was your turn to go.
It starts to sink in,
That this is something I will never know.
You were a man of god,
That loved to laugh, love, and pray
I think back when I was a little girl
And how you changed my life
You have changed it for the better,
And for the better it will stay.

In remembrance of Steve Borger...

The Borger Family,

Although I am no longer able to keep in touch, I was shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. Steve was a great man who looked to the Lord in everything he did...he made a huge impact on the youth, in particular, which I greatly admire as an elementary teacher. He will be greatly missed, but is in a better place and looking down on us with a smile on his face.

With deepest sympathy,
Tina Marshall

Laurie...I was very sorry to hear of your loss. Although it had been several years since I last spoke to Steve, I still considered him a friend. The friendship formed all those years ago on rollerskates has stuck with me. I just saw the notice today in the Philipsburg paper or I'd have come to the service. Again, my deepest sympathies for you and your family.

Dear Steven,
I was able to attend your celebration of life ceremony and funeral. You would have been so proud of your family. Laurie is the absolute pillar of strength, and your pastor is the most amazing speaker. Laurie shared her strength with everyone when they could not express their sorrow themselves.
You will be missed without a doubt.

Steve was a wondeful Christian example to all of us. His life will forever affect those he touched. He raised up an army of young Christians to follow in his steps and the steps of Jesus. Surely he has heard, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
May God comfort you Laurie, Hoyt, Sierra, Mrs. Janet Borger, Jeff, Cathy, Andy & Timmy Borger.
Love in Jesus,
Pastor Doug & Judy Mottin, David, Donny and your church family

The Borger Family,
Words really can't express how special Steve was and is to me. He influenced my life a great deal and taught me many times how to live for the Lord. If someone wanted to know how to live for the Lord all that person needed to do was look how Steve lived his life. He truly was a blessing to me and a man of God. He will be missed greatly but I know we will see him again and be with him for eternity. There will be a day where he welcomes us with that smile on his face into heaven with him. If you guys need anything I am here for you and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Laurie, Hoyt and Sierra,
Words cannot express how saddened George, Sara and I are on Steve's sudden passing. We think of the times sitting by the pool talking while the youth group was swimming...good times that will never be forgotten. We'll also remember that smile he always had for everyone. May God comfort you in knowing that he is at peace with Jesus and we will see him again someday. Until that time, he will be deeply missed. You are in our prayers.

Steve is now seeing his Savior face to face. Take comfort that he is home with his heavenly Father and we will see him again one day. Our prayers are with you all - he sure loved his family. He was a wonderful guy who always had a big smile and an encouraging word for everyone. He also had a servants heart - we remember Hoyt, Sierra and Steve helping us set logs for our home a few years ago. I don't think I ever remember him getting upset or frustrated when things didn't go right. At Camp K, Puppets with a Purpose, his church, his work - he loved others with the love of Christ and it showed in all that he did.
