Thomas Grubb Obituary

Thomas Aaron Grubb February 11, 1947 April 29, 2015 After a nine month battle with cancer, Thomas Aaron Grubb died in Hospice at Jupiter Medical Center Pavilion in Jupiter, Fla. He passed away peacefully with family and close friends nearby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Aaron and Betty Louise Bailey Grubb; and his childhood friend, Thomas E. Corl, who he held dear and never forgot. He is survived by his daughter, Stacia Louise Grubb McCallum and grandson, Pierson Charles McCallum, of Jupiter, Fla.; his daughter, Jessica Ann Grubb Rooks and her husband, Stephen, and their expected son, Henry, due in May, of New Port Richey, Fla.; his sister, Jeannie and her husband, Bruce Sargeant, of Venice, Fla.; his cousin, Edgar Jodon and his wife, Sharon, of Port Matilda; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends who loved him during his life, including Carolyn F. Ford, Beth Wilson Griffin, Freddi and Mel Keeler, Emily and Frank Wilson, Mitch McCallum and Nick Kitchen. Tom was born in Bellefonte and grew up working on the Grubb family farm off Gatesburg Road in State College. He graduated from State College Area High School in 1965. Tom started his career in automotive sales at Clark Motor Company, then spent many years in sales and management at Leitzinger Imports. He had a passion for fast cars and won trophies drag racing a 1969 383 Roadrunner. In 1984, Tom moved to Atlanta, Ga., residing there for many years before returning to Pennsylvania to care for his ailing mother. He then started working for Bennett Transportation in 1998, a job that he loved and afforded him the opportunity to travel the American countryside and meet lots of new friends. In 2012, he moved to Florida to be closer to his children and their families. Tom was an avid gun collector teaching both of his daughters and grandson how to shoot. He loved to watch NASCAR Racing, enjoyed gardening and baking planning to start a line of baked goods for sale in his retirement. Those who met him never forgot him as he was often described, lovingly, as a 'character'. His sense of humor and giving nature will be remembered and missed by many. His wish was to be cremated. His ashes will be scattered in Florida so he will remain close to his daughters and grandchildren; Georgia, the state he loved dearly; California, where he spent lots of time for work; Alaska, where he always wanted to visit but never got the chance; and Pennsylvania, where his family roots are. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation, Hospice by the Sea Foundation, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.

Tom lived life large, never missing a beat to be weird and wild. We had a running Sponge Bob joke that carried him through at the worst time of his life. So here's to you Tom: hhhhnnnnnnnhhhhh. Love you Tom.

It was with great sadnes that I said good bye to my brother. He fought a tough battle, all the time keeping his wonderful sense of humor. He was so proud of his "girls" and grandson. He was very fortunate to have traveled the USA and seen sights which many of never have, or will. He loved to tell stories of his adventures as well as stories from his teen years! He loved to garden, drive fast cars, spend time with family and friends and cook. His life was short, but he lived it to the max!He was generous and kind and a wonderful loving brother. I was so fortunate to be able to spend so much time with him near the end. I miss him every day. Love, Jeannie

Tom was a wonderful, kind, loving Father, Grandfather, Father In Law, and Friend. He was blessed with a marvelous sense of humor. He cherished the times he got to be with his Grandson Pierson. He made the holiday's fun and will be missed by all. He truly was a very interesting "character". My prayers are with Stacia, Pierson and all of his family and friends.
