Benny and I knew each other for almost 20 years. We were competitors in sales but friends always. He always called me "Hazel" each time I saw him at a conference. It just won't the same in this industry without him. He was a beacon.

My prayers and thoughts are with your family. I had the pleasure of working with Benny will we were both at Somar back in the 1996-1997. Benny was always a great person to be around and my life is better for having known him. While I didn't know him at the time I got to see him play baseball for Oakland since I am a lifelong baseball fan.

To Benny's Family:
I was shocked and really sad to hear about Benny's passing. I last spoke to him about 2 years ago, and really enjoyed the time working with him back in the late 90s at TeleSpectrum - I don't know of too many people that had the energy that he had. I'll miss you buddy.

Growing up in Dobson, North Carolina I saw Benny play basketball at Surry Central High School. He was just a smooth, lovable big guy the community embraced. I will never forget hearing Benny pitching for the Oakland A's on the radio Summer of 1983. His death is a shock. He was taken too soon.

worked for R. W. Virtue and with Greg Alcorn when Southern Alloy was started in 1977. Benny was a great guy and he gave our son, Shane, a signed baseball which he still has. He and Sherman talked sports all the time and I spent time sharing stories with Benny when SOMAR was still in business. Sherman is 6'5" and he and Benny shared great
height and a great love of hard work, fun with sports and just general friendship. We have kept up with him through Dick Virtue.

We share your loss of a great husband, a marvelous father and a wonderful friend to so many people.

May God bless you and your family during this difficult time and may He carry you through all the emptiness ahead.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and our love for Benny and all he shared with us. That baseball means so much to our son, Shane, who is working back at Dura-Bar since January 2nd.

Benny was a bright star that, regrettably, burned out too, too quickly. I knew Benny for over 20 years and will forever miss his expressiveness (big smile and laugh, look of great concern), his enthusiasm, and his sense of humor. I used to live in Dallas and saw Benny in his Oakland A’s uniform when they played the Texas Rangers – That’s the memory I will remember. Benny, I’ll miss you.

Robin and Kids
I was shocked to hear the news. Like so many others,it's an honor to call Benny my friend. There are so many wonderful memories of times spent at Catawba with friends and teammates that I can't begin to name them all. Most important is the kindness and warmth that was always present wherever Benny roamed. My deepest sympathy and continued prayers go out to each of you.
God Bless.
