Bobby Barbee Obituary

Bobby McClain Barbee
OAKBORO -- Mr. Barbee, age 79, died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at CMC-Northeast in Concord, N.C. Mr. Barbee was employed by Cannon Mills Plant # 1 as a Supervisor and retired from Chematron, Charlotte, NC. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He served our country with 6 years of active service in the U. S. Air Force and 25 years in the Air Force National Guard.
He was the son of the late Dewey Alfred Barbee and the late Ora Lee Hatley Barbee.
He is survived by his wife; Virginia Alene Tucker Barbee, two sons; Steve Barbee and wife Deborah of Monroe, N.C., and Eddie Barbee of Oakboro, N.C., one daughter; Sherry Potts and husband James of New London, N.C., two sisters; Shirley Kluttz and Judy Parnell of Locust, N.C., one brother; Roger Barbee of Locust, N.C., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2008. At other times the family will meet at his home on Austin Road.
Funeral service will be at Providence Church of God, Locust, at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2008, with a 30 minute state. Rev. Jerry Ingle, Rev. Doyle Holder and Rev. Patrick Womack officiating. Interment will be at Providence Church of God Cemetery in Locust, N.C.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Online condolences may be sent at www.hartsellfh.com.

I was out of town for the holidays and was saddened to learn of Bobby's death upon our return. We served together in Air Evac. NCANG, and I feel fortunate to have known and served with him. He was a good friend, a good man, a great role model for our younger troops and a true patriot. My sympathies to his family.
