Brenda Moore Obituary

Brenda Saunders Moore CHARLOTTE - Brenda Saunders Moore passed away peacefully on the 11th of June, 2013. She was highly regarded for her energetic spirit as a mother, employee, and friend. Her most marked characteristic was her unwavering loyalty to family and friends. This attribute may have only been surpassed by her enduring beauty. Born in 1942 in Thomasville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry Bradley and Lois Westmoreland Myers. She grew up in Thomasville, where she graduated from Thomasville High School. In 1964, she married Dr. Swepson Harrison Saunders, V, of Columbia, SC. The couple had three children. While raising her children in Columbia, she pursued a career in electrical product sales with The Austin Company of Yadkinville, NC. She quickly rose to be one the company's top producers covering all of North and South Carolina. It was during this time she met and married John Vernon Moore of Charlotte, NC, her beloved husband of twenty six years. Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, John V. Moore; daughter, Elizabeth Tracques Saunders-Head (Sam) of Columbia; son, Swepson Harrison Saunders, VI (Laurin) of Columbia; daughter, Jane Susan Saunders Wingblade (John) of Charlotte; son, John Thomas Moore (Pat) of Charlotte, son, Bradley Nelson Zeigler(Kathy) of Sanford; brothers, Bradford Smith Myers (Linda) and Dale Thomas Myers (Becky) both of Thomasville; sisters, Martha Ann Crickmore of Myrtle Beach and Margaret Edwards of Thomasville as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her six, much adored grandchildren, Elizabeth Tracques Saunders Head, John Arthur "Jack" Wingblade, Jr., Swepson Harrison Saunders, VII, Lochlin Wilkes Saunders, Smith McLaurin Saunders and Jake Zeigler. They all love and miss their BeBe. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM, Friday the 14th of June, 2013 in the Magnolia Room of Ellington Funeral Service. A service to celebrate Mrs. Moore's life will be held at 2:00 PM in "The Historic Morehead Street Chapel" at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Mrs. Moore was predeceased by a daughter, Laura Suzanne Moore of Charlotte; her sisters, Joyce Elizabeth Myers of Savannah, Georgia, Nellie Morris of Thomasville; and brother, Henry Willard Myers of Thomasville. The family thanks and acknowledges the exceptional caregivers, Barbara Huntley, Ofa Tonga (owner of Ofa's Private Home Care Services, www.ophs.com), Lorraine Chisholm, and Loleini Tonga. We also thank Dr. Erica Bono and Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their care, especially Donna, Terri and James. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 and the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. Tracques, I don't know if you rememeber me or not but me, Michael and Lisa lived next door to you when you were about 3. Your mother and I were very close at that time but drivted apart when we moved. I would love to see you and talk with you if you would like. I am on facebook so you can contact me there. My prayers are with all of you.

John, Tracques, Harrison and Jane, it has been a very long time since we have talked but my heart broke when I saw Brenda's obituary. She was more than a friend to me. She was there for me when I desperately needed someone and I have thought of all of you so often in the intervening years. I am holding all of your family in my heart and in my prayers. I knew Brenda many years ago when she called on me for Austin Co. She was one of the classiest, nicest persons I have ever met in this industry. Sad to hear she is gone, but she left a lasting impression on me after all these years.
