Brenda Weeks Obituary

Ms. Brenda Gale Howze Weeks was born April 7, 1957 to Mrs. Mae Pearl Martin Howze and the late Mr. Theodore Howze, Sr in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brenda answered the Heavenly Fathers call and went home to receive her reward for eternal life on January 30, 2003 surrounded by her loved ones.
Educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system, Brenda served others in need by working as a certified Nurse assistant until her illness. Brenda was a compassionate and devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend who thoughtfully gave of herself everyday. She took pride in caring for children and the elderly, providing food and shelter whenever one was in need. Known best for her smile and kindness, Brenda's life revolved around her family including her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance Bonita Weeks. Left with beautiful memories are her mother, Mrs. Mae Pearl Howze; grandmother, Mrs. Lettie Mae Polite of New York, NY; four sons, Antonio D. Weeks, Jerome Robinson, Jr., Jamal Robinson, Darnell Foster; four daughters, Jacquetta L. Weeks, Lawanda D. Weeks, Ronita Weeks, Niaza Foster; and foster-son La Shun Foster all of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Also left with memories are her grandchildren, Doneeja A. Weeks of Charlotte, North Carolina, China M. Weeks of Atlanta, Ga., Aniya M. Weeks, and Antonio D. Weeks, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina. Four sisters Ms. Gloria Sims of Manhattan, NY, Ms. Cynthia Key, Ms. Pearline Howze and Ms. Therese "Rita" Howze of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight brothers Mr. Michael Howze, Theodore "Ted" Howze, Jr., Mr. Zachary Howze, Mr. Gregory Howze, Mr. Anthony Howze, Mr. Daryl Howze, Mr. Antonio Potts and Mr. Jeffrey Potts all of Charlotte, North Carolina; her companion, Mr. Larry Foster of Charlotte, North Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Mr. John Sims of Manhattan, N.Y., Mr. Howard "Pete" Key, Mr. Ralph Joel, and Mr. Reginald Gilmore of Charlotte, North Carolina; five sisters-in-law, Ms. Carolyn Howze, Ms. Gloria Howze, Ms. Pamela Howze, Ms. Neese Harrison, and Ms. Zuleha Howze all of Charlotte, North Carolina; three aunts, Ms. Mildred Stevenson, Ms. Doris Black, and Ms. Mary Murchison, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; two uncles, Mr. Leroy Martin and Mr. Roger Martin; thirty-four nieces and forty-six nephews; her best friends Ms. Katie Williams, Ms. Anita Powell and Ms. Betty Foster; and host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on February 9th at 2:00 PM, with Dr. A.B. Sutton, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on February 8th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
Brenda will always be remembered as a woman of great courage, strength, and dignity. Her passion for life and people will live on in our hearts forever. In spite of her illness, she kept the faith and lived each day to the fullest. Brenda will never be forgotten and she will live in our hearts forever.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice, Myers Park Family Practice, and Carolinas Medical Center for their attentiveness and compassion. A sincere and special THANKS to Dr. Karen Jones and Dr. Brown. A personal thanks to her nurse Jeanne Cauble, and her caretaker Terri.
