Bruce Hartwell Griffin Sr.

MONROE -- Mr. Bruce Hartwell Griffin, Sr., 83, died Sunday, September 22, 2002, in Hospice House of Union County. Mr. Griffin was born in Union County, NC, March 2, 1919, son of the late Aaron E. and Martha Deese Griffin. He was the founder and Chairman of the Board of Griffin Motor Company. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Monroe. Entombment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta Sullivan Griffin. He is survived by his second wife, Willie Williams Griffin; one son, Bruce H. Griffin, Jr. of Monroe; one daughter, Patricia G. Stewart of Monroe; five grandchildren, Bruce H. Griffin, III, Missy Walters, Macon Griffin, Chad Stewart and Shep Stewart; eight great grandchildren, Erin Walters, Griffin Walters, Will Walters, Savannah Griffin, Sullivan Griffin, Stowe Griffin, Wells Griffin and Altman Griffin; one step-son, Denton Williams, Jr. of Weddington, NC; two step-daughters, Sylvia Bolick of Matthews, NC and Karen Pressley of ocean Isle, NC; five step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. The Griffin family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2002 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at his residence, 1403 W. Franklin St., Monroe, NC 28112. Memorials are requested to Union Academy, 3828 Old Charlotte Hwy., Monroe, NC 28110. Gordon Funeral Service is caring for the Griffin family.
