Charlotte, North Carolina - Cary Carter "Cup" Mitchell, transitioned to his heavenly home, Saturday April 2nd, 2022. Cary was born February 20th, 1960 in Richmond, Virginia.
For over 33 years, Mr. Mitchell won recognition as an innovative clothing designer who helped renowned athletes style. Cary also designed the first uniforms for the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, April 15th, 2022 at 12 noon at Victory Christian Center-Dome, 7228 Kings Ridge Drive in Charlotte with a visitation prior to the service at 11 am. Public viewing Thursday, April 14th from 12 noon to 7 pm at A.E. Grier & Sons Chapel, 2310 Statesville Ave. Charlotte, NC. Online Condolences: www.Aegriersonsfcc.com

The Lord is and will be your strength and continue to cuddle you with His Love. Carey will be missed on earth however we will see him again. Cary and I met in 1997 at Johnson C. Smith University when I worked there, and have been friends every since that time. I subsequently met Vanessa and we became friends also passing each other many times in flight travel. I just reunited with via phone with Cary a little over 3 months ago and talked about so much! My family and I are saddened by the sudden loss of our Brother and friend. Our hearts go out to you Vanessa and your families. My Venessa, girls and I will cherish the fond memories. Met Cary in 1985 when we both were working for Piedmont Airlines. He approached me because I had a suit on that wanted to borrow for a trip to Paris. I gave it to him and we´ve been tight ever since. Had the opportunity to travel with him and break bread with him on many occasions. He had me perform several times for the basketball campers at JCSU. He was as we like to say, "Good People ". Peace and Love to Vanessa and the entire family.

You are truly going to missed. I met Cup when I visited JCSU when my sister, Cheryl was attending. After she graduated I received a basketball scholarship under Steve Joyner. Cup will always come in with great smile and cheered us on. My condolences and prayers to the family.

I was shocked to hear of Cary's passing. Cary was one of the fine young men I taught at Huguenot High School. He was always pleasant and truly respectful and a good student. When he and I would see each other at the CIAA tournaments, he would come to me with that "beautiful" smile and give me a wonderful hug. Cary was a GREAT guy and will be missed by all who knew him.
Vanessa and John, may God's loving presence comfort you. You have my deepest sympathy.
