Daniel Latimer Obituary
Mr. Latimer, 18, of Huntersville, NC died Friday, July 25, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born on February 22, 1990 in Greenville, SC.
He is survived by his father, Gary Keith Latimer of Huntersville; mother, Melody Lee Constance Wood and his step-father, Chuck Wood, of Stanley; brother, Ben Latimer of Huntersville; paternal grandparents, Ben and Joan Latimer of Lake Junaluska and maternal grandparents, Hugh and Betty Constance of Waynesville.
With such a young spirit and full of life Daniel Latimer was loved by many. There is no way to sum up what Daniel meant to the world, and there are no words that would ever do him justice. The love he had for his friends and family was overwhelming. His personality touched everyone he met. His kind heart eased the souls of many when needed. He loved spending his free time playing on the lake and ultimate frisbee. The world will now have to live without the grin of Daniel Latimer; a grin that captured every ones heart.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 28, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Danner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Angels of '97, 6620 Cashion Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.

Melody, Gary and all of Daniel's family, I am so saddened to hear of your loss. I cannot even begin to imagine what you are going through. What a handsome young man, and what a wonderful young man he must have been! I know how very proud you must be as parents to have been blessed with his beautiful soul and happiness, as well as his beautiful smile. I know he has touched many lives! Daniel was always making me laugh. We had some classes together at Hopewell, and i saw him at graduation. I never got to say goodbye. I'll miss you Daniel, you're in my heart forever!

We are neighbors of Betty and Hugh. Our thoughts and prayers have been with all your family since we heard of Daniel's accident.
We never had the privilege of meeting Daniel; but the love that radiates from Betty and Hugh when they mention any of you lets us know what a wonderful close family you are.
The news of his passing was overwhelming to both of us. Daniel was remembered and your family was prayed for by the minister at our Sunday church service.

I went to school with Daniel and even worked with him at Dunkin Donuts for awhile. He was always someone who made me laugh even when I would be having a bad day at work. I also had a class with him our junior year and I remember him always being the class clown and making everyone around him smile. I love how Daniel was the type of person to be friends with anyone and everyone, no matter what group of friends you hung around with. I am praying for God to help your family through this difficult time.

Though I didn't know Daniel very well, he spent several summers with his grandfather during Folkmoot, and I enjoyed getting to know him. He seemed to be an exceptionally polite young man, always willing to help, and always had that smile on his face. My mother and I offer our prayers and heartfelt sympathy in this tragic time. Daniel got his wings on Friday and Heaven recieved an awesome new angel. He was so respectful and loving toward everybody. I think that's why everyone just loved him. My heart goes out to all of you. I'm sorry that I'm so far away and you don't know how much I want to be there to give you a hug right now Melody. There are no words that I can say that will take away the pain but I can say I know how much it hurts. I wish I had the chance to meet him before all this but I do smile when I think of him...it could be because of Ben's stories of his brother or it could be because of a calming feeling the Lord has put in my heart that Daniel is in a better place and he's not hurting and he's enjoying paradise with my baby girl. I found comfort in the support of family and friends and I know that you have a large amount of people that love Daniel and therefore love you too. I will continue to pray for you and your family.
