David Barwick Obituary

David Emory Barwick, 71, passed away July 19, 2018. He was born December 4, 1946 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Emory Earl and Ruby Davis Barwick. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1969 with a B.S. in Textile Engineering and worked with Burlington Industries before serving his R.O.T.C. commitment in the U.S. Army.

David received a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard University in 1975 and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to join First Union National Bank, which ultimately became Wells Fargo. He retired in 2005 and enjoyed a second career for twelve years with the Investment Advisory Group in Charlotte.

A gentle observer of the human condition, he was known for an ever-present dry and easy wit. David was a crossword puzzle master, and loved tweaking jokes and stories to perfection. A natural caretaker, he was happiest with family and friends. He loved hosting dinner parties, sailing the Caribbean, traveling abroad, and classic hard rock, the Rolling Stones above all others.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Peg) Masalonis Barwick; his daughter, Tracy Barwick Robison (Dan); and grandchildren, Mary Margaret and Davis Holt Robison. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Linton Barwick and family of Columbia, South Carolina.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 25th, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 East Morehead Street in Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service.

For those wishing to send memorial gifts, please consider the Nature Conservancy, or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society in honor of the excellent care he received at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte.
