Donald Patterson Obituary

Donald Medford Patterson, age 85, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 at The Sharon at Southpark where Don had resided since February 2021.

Born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Don was a graduate of New Hanover High School, The Apprentice School at the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company, and North Carolina State University. Don spent his entire career at Greenline Corporation, retiring as Chairman and CEO.

Don is survived by his sister, Barbara Miller of San Diego, California and her family, as well as his sons and their families: Houston (Kelly Rottman) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; David "Toby" (Cathy) of Charlotte; and Christopher (Chrisna) of Key Largo, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, C. D. "Pat" Patterson, his mother, Vida Lemons Patterson, and his beloved former wife, Judith Patterson Gilbert.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests an online gift, honoring Don's lifelong spirit of generosity, to the Donald Medford Patterson Memorial Fund at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://tiny.cc/DMPStJude).

We would also encourage anyone who knew Don to visit a CaringBridge site we have set up to give everyone a place to share condolences, stories, and photos (http://tiny.cc/DMP2025).
