Doug McCoy MIDLAND - Doug McCoy, 80 years of age, of Midland, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, surrounded by his family. Mr. McCoy was born July 19, 1935, to the late L.W. and Maude Little McCoy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, L.W. "Bunk" McCoy. Doug was a lifelong member of Mill Grove Methodist Church and served in many different capacities over the years. Mr. McCoy owned and operated McCoy Oil Company for 50 plus years. It was here that he became a member of the NC Petroleum Marketers Association and on October 21, 2012, Doug received the Don Ward Corporate Excellence Award. This is the highest corporate honor presented in the oil and convenience industry in North Carolina. The family received friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, July 18, 2016, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, 13659 Hwy. 601 South, Midland, officiated by Rev. Arval Rushing and Dr. Bob Sturge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include: wife of 58 years, Frances Connell McCoy; sons, Doug, Jr. "Butch" and wife Gina McCoy, Dalton and wife Cindy McCoy; granddaughters, Ashlyn and Kerrie McCoy; grandson, Cole McCoy; brothers, Norman McCoy of Murrells Inlet, SC, Robert "Bob" McCoy of Midland, NC; sister, Lana Bailey of Woodbridge, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mill Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 84, 13659 Hwy. 601 South, Midland. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the McCoy family.
