In 1947, Edward and his family moved to Charlotte where he resided until moving to Plantation Estates, Matthews in 1992. He was an active member of Old Providence Swim and Racquet Club. He owned and operated a number of restaurants in Charlotte. He then represented Ely and Walker, a mens' and boys' apparel manufacturer, where he won several awards for his outstanding salesmanship.
