Ethel Marks Obituary

Ethel W. Marks
Mrs. Marks, of Charlotte, died December 28, 2005 at Lawyers Glen Retirement Center. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30th at Lowe Funeral Home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, with the Reverend William Youmans conducting the service. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marks was born in Mecklenburg County and was a graduate of Oakhurst High School. She was employed by Powdrell and Alexander during World War II, helping in the manufacturing of parachutes. After the war she was employed by Kenneth Home Fashions as an Inspector and Machine Operator for many years. She was a lifelong member of Amity Presbyterian Church, The Friendship Club and Circle Number 2. She loved her church and her many friends and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Marks was preceded in death by her husband Henry W. Marks, her son William Frank Cassady, her father and mother, Hosey and Virgie Williams, her brothers, Hosey, Jr., Carl and Olin, and sisters Elizabeth Williams and Janie Moore. She is survived by her daughter Linda C. Catledge, grandson Gerald Lilly, and granddaughters, Teresa Winchester and Bobby Jean Robinson. She also leaves behind a number of great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and sisters Marion W. Marze of Matthews and Muriel W. Furr of Fort Mill, SC.
Memorials may be made to Amity Presbyterian Church, 2831 North Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28205.
Lowe Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mrs. Marks.

Carol, Scottie, Beth and I were all very saddened to learn of Mrs Marks' passing. We always enjoyed seeing her and hope we were able to help her in some small way. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
