Fred Wren Obituary

Fred L. Wren
Mr. Wren, age 72, Mint Hill, NC passed away on January 10, 2011. He was born in Jamestown, NY on March 7, 1938, the son of Charles L. and Freda Wren. He graduated from Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Business College. He was a member of Chi Sigma Chi Fraternity. Fred served in the National Guard. He lived in California for a short period of time and was employed with the United California Bank in the Installment Credit Department. He met his wife Connie Agosta who was also employed with that bank and they married in 1962.
Their son, Gregory A. Wren was born in 1964 and his daughter Lori L. Wren in 1970. Having moved back to Jamestown in 1966 following his father's death, Fred was hired by Jamestown Mutual Insurance Co. Jamestown Mutual later being acquired by Unigard Insurance Co., out of Bellevue, Washington, Fred rose to the position of the company's Worker's Compensation Line Manager for all Worker's Comp claims operations nationwide. He was a member of several Insurance Claims Associations and served in various capacities. Mr. Wren had worked out of the Syracuse, NY office and eventually the Raleigh, NC office where he retired after 28 years of service.
Fred was a family man and an avid golfer and gardener. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 1999. His knowledge of golf allowed him to continue to be active and worked as a Marshal at the local courses of Stonebridge Golf Club and Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. He was also a member of the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. Mr. Wren attended the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Weddington, NC. He had also performed volunteer work at the Levine Senior Center in Matthews, NC.
Mr. Wren was preceded in death by his father, Charles Leroy Wren and Mother, Freda I. Wren; a sister, Joyce Dye all of Jamestown, New York. Survivors include his wife, Connie M. Wren; a son, Gregory Wren and his wife Lynn; a daughter, Lori Wren; grandchildren: Tucker and Taylor; and one sister Lois Collins of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred's memory to either: Harris Hospice, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549 or the ALS Center in Charlotte, 1010 Edgehill Road, N., Charlotte, NC 28207.
The Wren family is in the care of Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel.

Dear Lori,
We were so saddened to hear that your Dad passed away. Please know that our thoughts, prayers and love are with you and your family

Dear Connie & Family,

Our deepest condolensces to you and the family. We know that you lost a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We also know how difficult Fred's struggle with ALS was this past year, and truly believe he is now in a peaceful place without pain.
