Columbia, South Carolina - Gordon Hearst Pressly, 67, of Columbia, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina, died Thursday, August 12, 2021. Gordon was born February 21, 1954, in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1978 with a Master of Business Administration. Gordon owned his own custom home building company for 15 years. Since 1995, he has been a real estate appraiser in North and South Carolina. Gordon was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
Gordon thrived spending time in the great outdoors and loved everything nature had to offer. He was a natural explorer who would routinely take a hike with no specific destination in mind. Gordon also enjoyed boating and was very good fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Lee Pressly; daughter, Erin Pressly of Charlotte; in-laws, AJ and Bonnie Lee and a multitude of extended family and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dr. Henry Erskine Pressly and Sara Parkinson Pressly; as well as his sister, Dr. Margaret Rose Pressly.
The service for Gordon will be held 12 o'clock noon, Monday, August 16th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. R. Joseph Copeland officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 11 o'clock. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Gordon's memory with a random act of kindness to someone in need or a charity of one's choice.

Donna and Erin, I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. I have such good memories of Gordon. I loved when he came in to our restaurant. Such a good guy. He always had a kind word, smiles and jokes. I also enjoyed hearing him sing! He had such a great voice, and we loved hearing him sing Elvis. He will be missed by so many people.

Gordon was good friend and appraiser for many years. I met Gordon and Donna back in the 1990's when they became real estate appraisers. When I was teaching classes Gordon was always the class clown and Donna the homecoming queen. I will miss you my friend.
