Hugh White Obituary
FORT MILL -- Mr. White, age 87, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at home after a brief battle with prostate cancer.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill, with Dr. Dan Holloway and the Rev. Jeannie Bickett officiating. The family will receive friends and family following the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. White was born August 11, 1923 in Charlotte, N.C. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, graduated from Clemson College in 1949 and retired from the S.C. Army National Guard. Mr. White was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Stirewalt White; his parents, Hugh Monroe White, Sr. and Bleeka Lee Page White; and a grandson, Hugh Stirewalt White.
Surviving are two sons, Samuel Elliott White of Fort Mill and Robert Stirewalt White of Little River; two daughters, Debbie Hammond Black of York and Marcia Erikson of Camden; two grandsons, Robert Shane White and Tom Williams; three granddaughters, Donna Williams, Angie Brock and Cindy Averitt; two great-grandsons, James Brock, Jr. and Joel Averitt; three great-granddaughters, Jayden Coree White, Kathryn Williams and Kagelyn Averitt; and two daughters-in-law, Patricia White of Fort Mill and Jeannie White of Little River.
Memorials may be made to the Hugh Stirewalt White Scholarhip Fund, c/o Fort Mill High School, P.O. Box 476, Fort Mill, SC 29716.

Sam and family, I was so sorry to hear about your dad passing....Delta shared the story about his pastor with him Saturday night singing Amazing Grace and how your Dad squeezed his hand during one of the verses.
