James Harding Canipe
'Jim'
MORVEN -- Mr. James 'Jim' Harding Canipe, 91, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Center, Wadesboro.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, by the graveside in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, McFarlan with Rev. Dr. Paul Wood, Jr. and Rev. Larry King officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Jim was born in Cleveland County, NC June 19, 1920 a son of the late Marcus Giles Canipe and the late Dessie Etta Wallace Canipe. He retired as postmaster from Morven Post Office with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Morven United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Marines, having served during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty Treadaway Canipe of the home; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Clay Williams of Florence, SC, Susan and Gary Williams of Matthews and Beth and Barry Ricketts of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Callie and Michael Ricketts both of Chapel Hill; his sisters, Lou Moravec of Greenville, SC and Beatrice Bowman of San Rafael, CA; his loving pets, Sissy and Lucy; and his nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorials may be made to Friends of Hampton B. Allen Library, 120 S. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfuneralhomewadesboro.com.
