James Summers Obituary
'Jay'
CONCORD -- Mr. Summers, age 91 of 344 Rabon St SE passed away Friday morning at his home. A memorial service will be 11 AM Monday at St James Lutheran Church officiated by Rev Dr Kathryn Baines. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home and also after the memorial service.
Jay was born May 10, 1915 in Cabarrus County to the late Ralph G & Rose Johnson Summers. He was a graduate of Odell High School, served in US Navy during WW II aboard the USS Cummings, and retired from Gates Tire & Rubber Co as a manager. He also was a member of the Woodmen of the World, St James Lutheran Church, American Legion, and worked for Hoover's and Young Men's Shop. Jay was a high spirited people person.
Jay is survived by his wife Martha Walter Summers, son James E Summers Jr of Charlotte, sisters Helen Summers & Mary S Davis both of Davidson, Lois S Kiser of Charlotte, grandchildren Alicia Warner & Elizabeth Francis both of Nevada. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Nancy S Leavitt & Sarah S Washam.
Memorials may be made to St James Lutheran Church Music Fund PO Box 684 Concord, NC 28026 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Boy Scout Camp Rd Kannapolis, NC 28081.
