Janet Simpson Obituary
Ms. Simpson, 56, of Charlotte passed away December 5, 2010. A Charlotte native, Ms. Simpson was born February 28, 1954, daughter of the late Allison and Elizabeth Flynn Simpson.
Janet was a 1972 graduate of Garinger High School and attended UNCC. Ms. Simpson retired from Wachovia Bank in 2006. Janet was currently employed with the Bank of Granite as Vice President of Special Assets Management.
She was a life long member of New Covenant ARP Church. Janet enjoyed sports, traveling and gardening. Janet loved life and will be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her brother, Paul Simpson and wife Sue of Rockingham, NC; sister, Joan Horton and husband David of Albemarle, NC. Also surviving are nieces, Kelly Franklin and Allison Horton and nephews, Mark Simpson and David Horton.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011, at New Covenant ARP Church in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant ARP Church, 2541 Elkwood Circle, Charlotte, NC 28205 or Susan G. Komen Foundation, 505 East Blvd., Suite101, Charlotte, NC 28203.

I learned about Janet when I was moving back to Charlotte after my divorce. I googled her to get her address and phone number and found the articles. She and I worked together for a number of years until I moved to Winston. We were also friends and lived near each other. She was so much fun and exciting to be around. It's been 10 years since I found the articles and it is still hard to believe and accept. Only one Janet and miss her and think about her often. I'm so sorry Joan. Bless

To the families of Janet -
I had felt a cold chill when Janet was reported missing. I prayed that she would be found soon, and if not, let her not suffer. I was privileged to work with Janet for about 10 years and she was always a supporting co-worker. Let God heal your sorrow and know that she is with Him and she will suffer no more. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

What wonderful memories I have of Janet from our high school days! I was so saddened to hear of your loss. Joan, please know that you and the family are being lifted up in prayer. Just wanted to let you know that Willis and I thought the service was very special. I had forgotten the nickname "Little Al", but it was one of the first things I learned when becoming one of the family. I can only say that Pop now has his Scatter Brain (as he lovingly called Janet) with him to keep him in line, right behind Mary Lynn that is. We love y'all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Janet was so sweet to comfort me and my family when I lost my husband, Steve, last July. I have such fond memories of watching football and basketball games at her house and all the fun we had together at the beach. May God comfort you all.

Jane was my friend and my bridesmaid I will miss her! My father did a lot of work at her house and he loved her like a daughter. She will be missed by many. I remember our days a New Covenant Church. I enjoyed seeing Janet at the Garinger Reunions at Lynn's. One of the last times I saw Janet was at a gathering of Garinger Alums at Red Rocks last July. My wife and I had the pleasure of sitting at a table with Janet and Ron Smith. I am so sorry that her life ended so tragically.

Janet was actually friends with my dad and uncle and my aunt. I never knew that until December when the story was on the news. I knew Janet from The Big Dipper on Shamrock, she used to come in for coffee in the morning and talk to Henry and I. I really liked her, she was always so nice. My heart goes out to her family. Janet and I worked together and became great friends. We had a good time making fun of each other and I looked forward to seeing her every day. She was always up beat and a great person to talk to no matter the problems you were experiencing. She had my back on many occasions and was a loyal friend. Although I will learn to live with it as we all will, I will never, never get over our loss. She would do anything for anybody.

It touched me greatly when Janet called me in February, 2008, after she read in the paper that my dad had died.
