Jason Martter Obituary
MARIETTA, GA -- Mr. Martter, 36, of Marietta, GA died unexpectedly Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at McEachern United Methodist Church in Powder Springs, GA with Rev. Dr. Jim Higgins officiating.
Jason was born and raised in Akron, OH. He graduated from Revere High School in 1992 and from Ohio State University in 1996. He began his professional sales career in Chicago and for the past ten years has been employed by Newell-Rubbermaid Corporation in Charlotte and most recently, Atlanta. An avid OSU fan, Jason enthusiastically dedicated himself to all that was important to him, especially family, friends, work, fitness and his spirituality. He was a deeply committed and loving husband, father, son, brother, friend and colleague.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Kirsten; two sons, Cale Allen (7) and Finn David (5); father and stepmother, Marc and Susan Martter of Huron, OH; mother, Marlys Martter and Doug Smiley of Akron, OH; three brothers, Todd and wife Teresa of Copley, OH; Kevin and wife Erin of Avon Lake, OH; Adam and wife Danielle of Marysville, OH; father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Susan Paulson of Lake Forest, IL; sister-in-law, Petrice and husband Antonio Espinosa of Menlo Park, CA; and extended family.
Contributions in Jason's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Family will receive friends Thursday following the service.

Jason was my boyfriend my senior year at Ohio State. He was sweet as can be and very kind to me. I will never forget the time I spent with him. He will be a part of my college memories forever. My prayers are with his family.

Jason was a wonderful young man I was fortunate enough to call my friend over the past 18 years. He will always be in my heart and he will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his wonderful family, all of you are quite special and I feel fortunate to know each and every one of you.

Dear Kirsten, Cale, Finn, and the entire Martter family,
I am so sorry for your loss; you are in the thoughts and prayers of many as you go through this difficult time. I graduated from Revere High School with Jason. In fact, he was my escort on the homecoming court our senior year. I remember walking across the field with him at halftime of the football game like it was yesterday. And most importantly, I remember Jason's contagious smile and him being a good friend, a kind person, a true gentleman. By the other tributes, it is no surprise to hear he carried that into adulthood. May it be of some comfort to know that he had such a positive impact on so many lives. Without question, the world was made a better place by having had Jason in it.

I am so sorry to hear of Jason's untimely death. I meet Jason when he was at the SAE Fraternity at OSU. I was his chapter advisor and always thought very highly of Jason. He was a true leader at school and I am sure he continued this at home and at work.

To all of Jason's friends and family,
I am so incredibly sorry for this tragic loss. While I was not a close personal friend of Jason's, I knew him to be a fine young man when I graduated from Revere High Scool in Ohio the year before him. As a fellow triathlete, I know the committment and energy he possessed to train while working and raising a family. Words don't seem enough to comfort now, but I pray that God holds you in his hands. I will think of Jason when I race in the Nations Triathlon this year.

There are no words that can fill the depth of the wound created when Jason passed. Know that your son, husband and dad left an imprint on countless lives. My thoughts and prayers have been with the entire Martter family for the past few days. The times that Jason and I spent together during our childhood seem endless. The flood of memories keep drifting in- from 2 toddlers in Towpath into adulthood. He enriched my life in so many ways, and he clearly had the same impact on so many others as well. I wish I could have been there with all of you today. I know he is smiling down right now.

There are no words to express the loss that you have suffered. Jason was a true gentleman. There are many of us out there who knew him, shared with him, and worked to become a better person with him. I worked with Jason for 2 years while I was at Newell Rubbermaid. He was absolutely one of the most incredible people I have ever met. He was the definitlion of integrity and loyalty. He always had a great smile on his face everyday and was a total joy to work with. I will always have fond memories of our sushi lunches together.
