Dear friends and family,
I hope this message finds you in peace and resilience during this difficult time. As we navigate the grief of losing our dear acquaintance, Jerry Horton, I'd like to share a few memories and condolences to honor our fleeting but impactful relationship with him.
Though I only had the privilege of crossing paths with Jerry, I immediately recognized his kindness and genuine spirit. His warm smile was a beacon of light, reminding everyone that the world was still filled with goodness.
Our first and only meeting was brief, but it left a lasting impression. I remember the spark in Jerry's eyes when he talked about his interests and the infectious excitement in his voice. He was the kind of person who made a short conversation feel like a deep connection. His welcoming demeanor made everyone comfortable, a testament to his warm and open-hearted nature.
Although we didn't have the chance to create many memories, I want to honor Jerry's legacy - that of a kind, generous, and empathetic individual. His willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need and his dedication to uplifting others were qualities that will be remembered by those lucky enough to meet him, no matter how briefly.
To Jerry's family, I extend my deepest condolences. The loss of someone as wonderful as Jerry is a heavy burden. Please know that his light continues to shine through the memories he left behind and in the hearts of everyone he touched. Even in his absence, he inspires us to be kinder, more caring individuals.
In this time of grief, however briefly, I invite all who knew Jerry to share their memories and stories. Though our relationships with him differed, our bond in our collective mourning brings us together. No matter how brief, his impact on our lives remains a testament to his incredible spirit.
As we grapple with this loss, let's remember Jerry for who he was - light in our lives, however brief. Let's honor him by living with the kindness, generosity, and love he so effortlessly embodied.
With heartfelt sympathy

Being a new HUD employee, I did not know Mr. Horton personally, but his HUD OCIO family knew him, so I knew him. He was a gentle and good man, always willing to "step up to the plate" during times of sincere need supporting the HUD mission. I feel for your loss. ~Ben H.

Jerry was one of my favorite people at HUD. He cared very much about the inner workings of the agency and how they impacted our customers. I always looked forward to his messages because he shared his thoughts with humor and kinsness. That is a marvelous legacy to leave. May he forever rest in peace.
