Jessica Hurst Obituary
August 18, 1981 - July 11, 2024
Charlotte, North Carolina - Jessica Kyle Hurst, 42, passed away peacefully on July 11 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Charlotte, NC to loving parents Marcia Hurst and Bob Whitman, by whom she is survived. Jessica is also survived by sister Robin Whitman and brother Scottie Whitman, uncles Mark (Movita) Hurst and Sidney (Mickey) Hite, nephews Ed (Becky) Hurst, Cal (Casey) Hurst, Zack (Ashley) Hurst, Cole Whitman, niece Sophia Lee, and many beloved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by grandmothers Audrey Whitman and Maxine Hurst, and aunt Ellen J. Hurst.
Jessica was especially close to her grandmother Maxine and her aunt Ellen. The strong bond and deep love she held for each shaped Jessica's values and helped her to become a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was also close with her niece, Sophia Lee (aka "Bean"), for whom she had a very special place in her heart as Jessica watched Bean grow up from a young child into a lovely young lady. They loved each other so much. Jessica loved all her family and friends fiercely and always looked forward to the holidays, having many happy childhood memories of celebrating with her nephews.
A graduate of Myers Park High School, Jessica studied nursing, worked in the family business, and volunteered in the field of mental health. She was a loyal friend with a heart of gold and a zest for life with impeccable taste. The ultimate girly girl, Jessica absolutely loved the color pink and diamond jewelry, but not more than her cats, whom she cherished, including her first love, Grady, whose birthday she celebrated every year.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24 at Hankins & Whittington, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a short service at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately after at Thomas Street Tavern, 1218 Thomas Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink.
Loved by so many, Jessica will be greatly missed.

I´m so sorry to hear about Jessica. She´s always being such a delight, sweet, and funny. You may not remember, but when she was around five years old she went with me to the Summer Bible School at my church. She wasn´t the least bit shy she was curious and immediately joined in all the activities & made friends instantly. I always enjoyed our time together and of course always appreciated our shared adoration of Cole. She´ll always be missed, but never forgotten. Please accept my condolences.

As a friend to Scottie, I want to offer my deepest sympathy to both he and Bob, as well as the Hurst family. I never had the opportunity to know Jessica but it sounds like she was a wonderful person. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.

My parents, Margaret and Bill Kennady, my brother Billy and I lived next door to your parents, Maxine and Ed in the early sixties. You were such a beautiful child.
