Kenneth Haskett Obituary

Kenneth Steve Haskett
Mr. Haskett, age 65 of Charlotte, died peacefully with his family by his side February 24, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. Ken was born in Mecklenburg County on November 22, 1945, son of the late Roy Lee Haskett and Annie Sue Cupp Haskett. He attended West Mecklenburg High School. A visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, with a service to celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Shady Brook Baptist Church, Reverend George Sherman officiating. Internment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Masonic Rites by West Gate Masonic Lodge.
Ken lived a quiet life, enjoying his family, friends and the outdoors. He was a proud member of Westgate Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd-Degree Mason, The Metrolina Shrine Club and The Oasis Temple of The Shrine and Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a dedicated supporter of Oxford Orphanage. Ken was a Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Charles H. Roan during hostile operations in both Cuba and Turkey. He was retired from Duke Energy where he was employed for 35 years as an Operations Supervisor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Karen Taylor Haskett, daughter, Dawn H Willis, son-in-law, Stephen H. Willis, daughter, Kimberly H. Herring, son-in-law, Steve Herring, grandchildren Sydney Elizabeth Willis and Stephen Andrew Willis, brothers, Dean Haskett (Shirley), Terry Haskett (Ann), Randy Haskett (Lori), sister Linda H McArver (Robert) and sister-in-law Freda Norwood.
Flowers are appreciated or Memorials may be made to Oxford Orphanage 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565; American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210; or Presbyterian Hospice Services, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
