Kenneth Donald Mode, Sr.
Mr. Mode, 74, of Charlotte, died Friday, November 9, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center, Main. His family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight, Sunday, November 11, at 328 Meadowbrook Drive, the home of his son, Kenny. The family will also receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Monday, November 12, at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM Monday in the Wilson Funeral Chapel, with Pastor David Richardson of Faulk's Baptist Church officiating.
Born September 22, 1933, in Charlotte, a son of the late Walter Floyd and Lula Lorena Reynolds Mode, Mr. Mode retired from PPG after a career of cutting and installing glass in high-rise buildings. Following his retirement, he worked in maintenance for Berryhill Realty. Mr. Mode loved golf, hunting and fishing, but, most of all, he loved his grandchildren very much.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mode was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Ann Hudson Mode, and sister, Peggy Gettis.
Survivors include his wife, Frances S. Mode; son, Kenneth D. Mode, Jr. (Lynn C.) of Stallings, NC; daughters, Kathy Mode Church (Michael) and Kendra Mode Dennis (Ricky), both of Monroe, NC, and Karla Mode Segee (Blaine) of Wingate, NC; step-sons, Eric York and Jerry York (Judy), both of Charlotte, and Billy York (Peggy) of Monroe. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Bryan and Jody Duckworth, Kyle and Micah Church, Alan, Adam, Dylan and Sam Segee, Katherine and MacKenzie Mode, Shannon Norwood, Adam York, and Tyler and Melissa York; and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Mendall Craig Mode of Waxhaw, NC; three sisters, Cris Knight of Charlotte, Kat Smith of Stallings and Linda Fritz of Birmingham, AL; and two aunts, Edie Duncan and Topsie Reynolds.
Mr. Mode's family is being served by Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service.
