Kevin Bannon Obituary

Kevin Bannon, 60, passed away on April 16, 2018. He was born on April 25, 1957 in Birmingham, England to Joyce Wingfield and James Bannon.

Living in Birmingham in the 1970s, when rock and roll was everywhere, Kevin found his passion. He played music with various bands including his favorite, Dreadin The Weddin. His music brought him in contact with some of the greatest of their time. His band opening for The Who and jamming with John Bonham were only a few of the many experiences that shaped his love of music. After moving to the U.S., he continued his love of music by playing at the Hard Rock in Orlando every year with the Compass employee band, The CeeGees. For the last 12 years, he spent his summers playing music with his friends in Covey's Campground at Claytor Lake. Where ever he went, other musicians were drawn to him. They were constantly inviting him on stage to play in several Key West hot spots, including Irish Kevin's and Captain Tony's. Much to his amazement, he developed a fan base that were always eager to see him play.

Kevin spent his days doing the things he loved, including, playing music, watching Premier League, especially his favorite team Aston Villa, playing trivia and traveling with Sherry, family and friends. He worked for Compass Group for 32 years sharing his love for life and infectious laughter with all who crossed his path.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Curran Bannon; children, Jack Bannon, Isobel Bannon, Josh Bannon, Todd and Jesi Lovell; grandson, Aaron Lovell; brother, Terry Bannon; sister, Elaine Russum; and various nieces and nephews.

A service in remembrance of Kevin's life will be held at 2 PM on Friday April 20, 2018 in the chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Following the service, family and friends are invited to celebrate him together at the Liberty, located at 1812 South Blvd., Charlotte.

So sad to hear that Kevin has passed away.
I'm grateful for the privilege of having worked with Kevin at Compass in the UK and for the odd jam session we had.
Will always remember my fellow Brummie for his great love of music, his great sense of humour and that permanent smile.
Rest in peace Kev.
My condolences to his family and friends.
