Lelia Michael Obituary
Mrs. Michael, 91, died February 25, 2005 at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy. She was born in Charlotte, N.C. May 21, 1913, the daughter of Wilson Elias Snell and Lelia Eliza Shelton Snell. She married Spencer Jennings Michael Aug. 4, 1941.
She worked for the Mecklenburg County Finance department for 40 years, retiring in 1975. After her retirement she was a volunteer for Friendship Trays. She was a life long member of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Spencer Jennings Michael, brothers Paul S. Snell, Sr. and W.C. Snell, sisters, Martha E. Snell, Mary S. Soule, and Sara E. Snell.
Survivors include her son, Spencer D. Michael of Charlotte, nieces Gwendolyn S. Rowe of Charlotte and Pearl S. Spivey of Charleston, SC; nephews, Paul S. Snell, Jr. of Newport, OH, and Wilson M. Snell of Harrisonburg, VA.
Graveside service for Mrs. Michael will be held in Sharon Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 1, at 2:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Friendship Trays, 2401 Distribution St., Charlotte, NC 28203, or to a Charity of the Donor's choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Blvd. (online www.hankinsandwhittington.com)
