Lucy Alexander Obituary

Mrs. Lucy Thompson Alexander, 79, of Charlotte, died Saturday, January 25, 2003 in Presbyterian Hospital's Harris Hospice Unit.
Born June 3, 1923 in Durham, NC, Mrs. Alexander was the daughter of the late Benjamin Thompson and Jane Rogers Thompson and graduated from Durham High School in the Class of 1941. On May 6, 1944 she married Scarr Alexander, her sweetheart since the sixth grade. Her career was spent as an Executive Assistant with Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing as well as Auburn football games.
Her husband, Scarr Alexander; her daughter, Linda Alexander Hunter and husband, Charles of Atlanta, GA; a granddaughter, Lisa Anne Hammett; and a great grandson, Richard Alexander Hammett, both of Germantown, MD, survive her.
A service of tribute to Mrs. Alexander's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28 in the Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel with the Reverend Bill Englebreth and the Reverend Randy Sherrill officiating. Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, January 27. Private interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Harris Hospice Unit, Presbyterian Hospital, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
