Malcom Blankenship Obituary

Malcolm "Mike" Brittain Blankenship, age 79 of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully Monday June 6, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday June 11, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Jack officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Blankenship was born October 13, 1936 in Charlotte, to the late Ben and Katrina Steele Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his brother Ben Blankenship.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved animals especially his dog Max. His passions were flying, was a pilot, loved cars, gardening and boating. Mike was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge 737, Scottish Rites, Oasis Temple and was past president of Red Fez Club. He worked in heavy construction his entire life including Blankenship Construction, was Regional Vice President of Dickerson Construction and retired from City of Charlotte-Airport.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty Brown Blankenship, daughters Katherine Kaylor (Robert), Deborah Blankenship, brothers Steele Blankenship (Barbara), Richard Blankenship (Shirley), sister in law Faye Blankenship, grandchildren Tanner Kaylor and Dusty Kaylor.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, Almeta and Care Haven for their support and care.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Road, Charlotte, NC 28278 or to Lewy Body Dementia Association at LBDA.org or charity of ones choice.
