Martha Leary Obituary

EDENTON -- Martha Conger Leary, 74, of the 100 block of W. King Street, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 in her home.
Mrs. Leary was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Joseph H., Sr. and Nellie Rose Conger. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. For many years she served on the church's Altar Guild and formerly served in that same capacity at Old Donation Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Other memberships included the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, J. Clarence Leary, Jr.; two sons, Joseph Clarence Leary, III and wife, Margaretta of Charlotte and Edmund "Ned' Conger Leary of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Martha Leah Leary, Joseph Clarence Leary, IV, David Minges Leary and Anna Katherine Leary; a sister, Harriet Conger Glover and husband, Dr. James B. Glover of Wilson; a brother, Joseph H. Conger, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Edenton; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Leary Balzer of Malvern, PA.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by the Reverend Thomas Rickenbaker. Burial will be private in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Edenton, NC 27932.
Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
