Mattie Livingston Obituary

Mattie Williams Livingston, 79, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord Monday evening, February 24, 2003.
Mrs. Livingston, the daughter of the late Henry Lawrence and Ola Dennis Williams, was born on November 13, 1923 in Lake City, SC. While she and her late husband Lawrence Livingston were raising their family in Wadesboro, NC, she was secretary to the principal at Central Elementary School with the Anson County School System for 25 years. She was a godly woman of great strength and character who faithfully served the Lord loving her family first, then serving her Lord as a proud member of Central Church of God.
Mrs. Livingston's survivors include two sons, Reverend Loran Livingston and wife, Sandra, of Charlotte, and Dennis O. Livingston and wife, Brenda, of Weddington; her daughter, Janice Landreth and her husband, Jim, of Matthews; two brothers, Donald R. and Van Williams, both of Cayce, SC; one sister, Carolyn Jackson of Goose Creek, SC; eight grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A service of celebration will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening, February 27, 2003 in the sanctuary of Central Church of God. The family will gather one hour prior and after the service to greet friends.
In addition to flowers, in which florists should begin deliveries directly to the church beginning after noon on Thursday, memorials may be made directly to Central Church of God, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270, in Mrs. Livingston's memory.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gaskin Services in Matthews.

This past Sunday in the 8:00 service you announced that your mother was at deaths door and I saw in you and your family a quality that only Christ could give you. As Sandra sang my favorite song with such grace, I just cried and thought the courage to get up there and sing when this event was about to take place. We love you all and thank you so much for being the faithful shepard you have been appointed to be. We never meet your mother, but one day soon we will. Our continued thoughts and prayers will be with you all.

In Christ Love,
