Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the O'Brien Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Nicholas S. O'Brien US Marine Lance Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I pray God takes your family and wraps you in his loving arms during this sad time. I just lost my father Thursday, he was a Vietam Veteran. Those not directly involved in the life of a Soldier can not comprhend the sacrifices they and their familys make. They do not understand not only the pride we have for them but the challenges they face serving and returning home. God Bless this family and all other Military families.

Hello, my name is Colleen, and I work for a military contractor in Ohio. One of the things my department does in order to help us stay focused on the warfighter and the mission at hand is honor one of the sodlers, sailors, airmen, or Marines who have been killed during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today is my day to honor one of the heros who has given his life in the name of safetly, patriotism and freedom - I have chosen to honor Lance Cpl Nicholas Obrien today. His name, rank, and hometown will be written on a plaque and hung on our Fallen Heroes Wall where he will be continually honored. Nicholas Obrien - thank you for your service and incredible sacrifice.

To the O’Brien Family & Friends: I read the article in USA Today that mentioned Nic. My heart breaks for everyone that is grieving the loss of this courageous young man. I am a sister of a young Reconnaissance Marine who is currently serving in Afghanistan. There are no amount of words or gestures that can take away your pain. As time passes find comfort in how brave and selfless Nic was to go overseas and leave his loved ones and the comforts of home behind, to defend our freedom. May all the wonderful times and memories through the years you spent with Nic, give you comfort. Nic is an astounding, courageous, admirable young man that gave his life for his country that he loved. May his memory live on forever…Sempre Fidelis

I've mourned your son every single day since I heard. I stood on the church lawn to honor him and pray for you all. He reminds me SO much of my own 13 y/o son who is hellbent on joining the USAF. Because of Nic and your family's sacrifice I cherish every second I have with him just as I'm sure you're cherishing 21 years of glorious memories that can never be taken away. To honor Nic, my son and I are adopting deployed servicemen overseas through herobox.org and sending monthly care packages. Nic's made me want to be a better person, for my life to mean just a fraction of what his did. Both my kids go to the gym across the street from Assembly of God and I run their parking lot during their practices. Every time I do that now I stop at that beautiful fountain and say a prayer for Nic and your family. God bless you all and your guardian angel Marine.

Saturday, June 11th as we were sitting with someone I love very dearly in the NSO at the airport to see him off for his first deployment, he also going to Afghanistan, we learned of this soldier's death. That was kind of hard for us as we were sending our loved one off. I can't imagine the hurt this family is suffering with. I will pray for the family and the friends of this young man, who was truly a hero. I never really thought about those serving our country until about 4 years ago when I met someone in the service. I have learned so much and have such an appreciation for everyone who has served or who is serving in our military. Thank you to this young man for giving his life so we can experience freedom.
