Pallie Whitfield Obituary

Pallie Gilbert Whitfield CHARLOTTE - Pallie Gilbert Whitfield of Charlotte passed in peace at the Levine & Dixon Hospice House on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the age of 93. Pallie was born on September 25, 1926, in Denton, North Carolina to Van and Mit Wood. She was one of six children. She attended High Point College and went on to own and manage several successful businesses throughout her life. For many years she was an active member and supporter of Carmel Country Club and Myers Park Baptist Church. Pallie was a proud mother of two children Fred Gilbert and Jill Clayton with her late husband Jack Gilbert. She was known as "GranPallie" to four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving husband of 15-years, Sam Whitfield. Pallie's kind heart never allowed her to meet a stranger or pass up an opportunity to help someone in need. She was a true example of God's love on Earth. A private family service will be held in honor and celebration of her life. Her family would like to thank the staff at Levine & Dixon Hospice House for their extraordinary care.

Pallie was a good friend of my mom´s, and our families grew up together. She always had a smile on her face, and would tell you like it is. My sister and myself moved away from Charlotte a few years ago, after my mom died. Pallie set beside me, and held my hand at her funeral. She was someone you would never forget, and she lived a good life. Heartfelt sympathy for the family.

The sad part of living to 93 is that you have outlived most of your peers. Perhaps that is why only two people wrote anything on this site. Pallie was a person who left her mark on each person she met. She came into my life like a whirlwind when I was eleven years old and nothing was ever the same again. I´ve never known anyone quite like her. Self assured, confident and never shy, she never walked when she could push her way through. There are no words to really describe her. No words. I hope God is kind to her.

May God deliver her soul. She taught me the true meaning of “looking out for Number One,” and demonstrated how to do it. Her Number One succeeded, never looking back. What an unforgettable human being. May God reward her with what she deserves. Praise Jesus!
