Phillip Randolph Cantrell
'Randy'
Mr. Cantrell, 39, of Concord, NC, formerly of Huntersville, died Sunday June 18, 2006 at his residence. He was born on September 19, 1966 in Mecklenburg County to Faye Causey Cantrell and the late Phillip Hugh Cantrell. A graduate of North Mecklenburg High School Class of 1984, Randy was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, was employed with Mac Trucks and possessed a deep love for motorcycles and racing. He was a loving and caring husband, son and brother and friend.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Rebecca 'Becky' Buckner Cantrell; step-son, Alan Clontz of Concord; sisters, Debra C. Robinson and husband Eddie of Denver and Sherry Cantrell of Charlotte; nephews, Trey Robinson, Colton Southworth; and niece Jennifer Ferrell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lowrance officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM tonight at Raymer Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC is serving the family.

I know that Sherry stuck by us when my daddy passed away. Even though we all have never kept up with each other, I know our hearts are locked together. Becky, Aunt Faye, Sherry, and Debbie, Our thoughts and Prayers go out for you all. Randy obviously was a great joy to anyone and everyone he was ever around. I missed that great joy since we have grown up and gone our seperate ways, but I have the great memories of our childhood days. Family cookouts, racing on our bicycles, swimming in the pool, and of course watching him race his Gocarts. Randy and I were closer in age than any of our other cousins. He was exactly one year older than me. As evidenced in the 7 pages of entries in this guest book, the number of friends and family that patiently waited in a line that wrapped around the funeral home last week and the many cards, calls and visits that our family has received, my uncle Randy is a well loved man and will be greatly missed. I don't have to tell anyone who knew Randy what a charismatic and loving person he was. He conquered everything he tried and lived passionately. These are the things we not only should hold on to, but MUST hold on to. Our family will now be guarded by not one, but two kind souls. Randy has filled one of the empty spaces next to Pappy in what will eventually be the final destination for us all.

I just wanted you all to know that my thoughts are with you. Randy would always come in the shop and no matter what he was doing he took time to say hey to me. My fondest memory of Randy was when Derek died. He was there for us all anytime we needed anything and I want all of you to know that we are there for you also. I wish there was something I could say to make things better but I know that there isn't. Time helps but it doesn't ever go away. Just know that no matter what you will have the memories and that is something that can never be taken away. Just remember to stick close to your family and talk about him to keep his spirit alive. Let God enfold you and carry you during this time. I do not understand why things happen as they do but I do know Randy is resting in the hands of God now and that you will see him again. There are not enough words to express just exactly what you mean to me. Although, there are twelve years between us, you and I were close and we both know just how much we loved each other. Since Daddy passed away, you were our anchor you tried to hard to fill his shoes, but finally admitted that his shoes were just too big. (you came pretty close.)
