Robert Collins Obituary

Robert B. Collins, III
'Robbie'
Robert 'Robbie' B. Collins, III, 56, of Mooresville, NC, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Collins was born May 23, 1950, in Hamlet, NC to Sammie Hewitte Collins, of Charlotte, NC and the late Robert B. Collins, Jr.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his brother, Mickey Collins and wife, Brenda of Charlotte, NC. He had one niece and one nephew, Katie and Austin Collins, whom he doted over every chance he had the opportunity. Robbie also had the privilege of being Godparent to Leslie Stinson Gerwitz. Robbie spent over forty years in the welding industry. He started at the age of sixteen with building contractors of Piedmont Welding Supply where he later began his career. He was a silver member of the American Welding society and a member of the GAWDA (Gases and Welding Distributors Association). The last twenty-two years Robbie was President of Kincol Industries Incorporated (KCI).
Robbie's longtime love was that of mid-year Corvettes. He appreciated their muscle and mystique. He spent many trips with his brother, Mickey and other friends attending Corvette Shows across the country. He was a member of the NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society), Southeast Chapter.
Robbie proudly served his country with the North Carolina National Guard.
He will be missed by family members, many wonderful friends and colleagues in the welding industry. Our deepest thanks to Robbie's friends and neighbors for their support and to the dedicated staff of the Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, NC.
Memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or Davidson United Methodist Church, 233 S. Main St., Davidson, NC 28036.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM, Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC.

What a great guy! I hadn't talked to Robbie in several years & didn't know he was sick. A friend told me today that he had passed. I thought of him often and have many great memories of his friendship. I am so sorry & my heart is with your family. He will be missed.
