Roger Thompson
Mr. Thompson departed this life on January 3, 2008 at the age of 75. He was born July 22, 1932, in York, SC, to the late Mrs. Annie Bell Powell Thompson and Mr. Clarence Thompson. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 6th at Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon, SC. Visitation is Saturday, January 5th from 7 to 8 p.m. at King's Funeral Home, 4000 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Before moving to Charlotte, Roger was a member of Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church of Sharon, SC, meeting and marrying Mrs. Lillie Ann McCullough Thompson. Together they had six children, 4 boys and 2 girls, Mr. Levi McCullough (deceased), Mr. Johnny Ray Thompson (deceased), Ms. Rhonda Thompson, Mr. Roger Jr. Thompson (Gail), Mr. Rudolph Thompson (Shari), Ms. Annie Ruth Thompson (deceased), and Mr. Robert Thompson.
Mrs. Lillie Ann Thompson went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 1980.
Roger later married Alberta Kirkland Thompson and together, they had 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl, Ms. Geneva Thompson, Mr. Robert Thompson (Tonya), and Mr. Willie B. Thompson. Together, Mrs. Alberta and Mr. Roger Thompson had 9 children.
Mr. Thompson retired from Crispy-Creme after 42 years of service. Roger's 4 brothers and 2 sisters are Mr. Johnny Bell Thompson (deceased) (Helen), Mr. Wip Thompson of SC, Mr. Willie Thompson of SC, Odell Robbins of Charlotte (Margaret), Ms. Josephine Brown of SC, Ms. Margie McCuluney of SC (Charles is deceased); 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King's Funeral Home.
