Roger Vinton Obituary

Roger Vinton, Sr., 92, of Wilora Lake Road, died January 18, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. A native of Rochester, New York, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Lucille G. Vinton. Survivors include two sons, Roger Jr., and wife Sandra of Charlotte, Dennis and wife Yvonne of Lexington, KY, and a daughter, Judith and husband Michael of Oakland, CA, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Vinton was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was an active supporter of numerous charitable and religious organizations. An avid ultralight and light plane pilot, he served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Octagenarian Pilots Association. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Vinton will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21st at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel with The Reverend Al Cadenhead Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the services on Tuesday at Sunset Memory Gardens. Serving as active pallbearers will be his five grandsons, Roger III, Gregory, Mark, Scott, Steven, and one great-grandson, Dustin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Hospital, Lucille G. Vinton Scholarship Fund, or to the Vinton Family Endowment PO Box 33549 Charlotte, NC 28233-3549.
