Wow. Ronnie and I spend the last half of Nuclear Power School and over two years on Enterprise together. Through two Vietnam deployments we played chess and talked for hours almost every day. He was a good friend that I lost track of when he moved from the Bay Area in the late 60's. Wish I had found him in time to say hello.

I met "Barnett" at Duke.. he and my husband David were fighting cancer. We only met a few times, but he was fun to be around, never lost his humour and enjoy setting down to play dominos with us who stayed up late. I am so glad he accepted Jesus as his lord and savior, I prayed many many times or sent emails only to have him said they were nice but not for him as he did not believe, so this news thrills me. I will always remember the friends we met and lost at Duke, the battle is ongoing for so many. Peace be with you my friend, and God bless you and your family.

Oh Ronnie, why did you go and do this. You took a piece of our heart by leaving. They'll love the story of our building the kayak and going down the French Broad River. We shoulda died then. Good that we didn't. You gave those who knew you another 50+ years of mirth. My best to those closest to you. . Paul Rifkin, still bewildered in Asheville.

Was in High School with Ronnie and liked his sense of humor then and was glad to reconnect at our 50th reunion in Asheville last summer. He wrote of his experience at "ground Zero" after 9/11 which was extremely well done and his humor was intact after a long health battle. He will be greatly missed!
