Ruby Blackwell MATTHEWS - Ruby Blackwell, 74, Matthews, died peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2012 with her family by her side. Born May 22, 1938 in Cerro Gordo, NC, Ruby was the loving daughter of the late Beulah Page and Luke Green. Funeral services will be Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC, officiated by Michael Flynn, Hospice Chaplain. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn East Cemetery directly across the street. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who treasured more than anything her time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Married for nearly 55 years, Ruby and Elroy lived in the Matthews area for 40 years and were the proud parents of three beautiful daughters: Donna Newsom, Pamela Wilson and Paula Stewart. In addition to her husband Elroy, Ruby leaves behind to treasure her memory: daughters: Donna Newsom and husband Edward and their children Bryan and Tyler; daughter Pamela Wilson and her special friend Ernest Groce and her son Jeramy; and daughter Paula Stewart and her special friend Michael Guion and her children Brittany, Jenna and Brandon. Her sister Fay Hayes also survives her. Ruby was predeceased by her parents Beulah and Luke Green, sisters: Stella Fipps, Lula Floyd and June Green; and brothers Luke Green and Bobby Green.
