Mrs. Allen was my 5th grade teacher at Merry Oaks in the early 70s. After inquiring about her whereabouts, I tracked her down and had the pleasure of seeing her after 40 years last May at Brookdale. I felt it very important to me to let her know that she was my favorite teacher after 16+ years of schooling. Although she did not recognize my face immediately (nor me for that matter), she quickly recognized the name and acknowledged my having a twin brother. She remembered different members of class I was in, Esther, Suzanne, Duncan (first and last name) and recalled information with such accuracy, I was amazed! Her mind was very clear and sharp, accurate and displayed a wonderful sense of humor that I did not remember (and may not have seen as a teacher/student relationship). We shared may laughs in the two hours I was there. I shared my admiration for her, acknowledging the important role she played in my life and how grateful I was for all the life learnings she shared with me. It was a wonderful moment for both of us and something I will cherish the rest of my life.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and others that recognize what a loss this earth has seen and what a wonderful addition heaven has gained.

What a lovely, wonderful lady. Sara was my 5th grade teacher at Shamrock Gardens in 1966-67. As a Presbyterian minister, I also knew her through various church functions. A great teacher and great person. May God bless her family during their time of grief.
