Marlene Bytella Obituary



Marlene Virginia Bytella, 81, of Gamber, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center. Marlene was born on November 5, 1935 in Baltimore, and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Wiles) Bowie. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late John Thomas Bytella, who passed away on February 27, 2014. Marlene was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School in 1953. She was a homemaker. Marlene was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She liked to garden, and loved her cats. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and running around Carroll County on the weekends with her daughter Sharon. Surviving her are daughters and sons-in-law Gail A. and Thomas O'Brien of Lewes, DE, Donna L. and Jeff Wiand of Elwood, IN, and Sharon E. and Richard Carl of Manchester; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Kathy Lambert Bowie of Annapolis; sister-in-law Carol Tyler of Florida; grandchildren Melissa O'Brien of Baltimore, Thomas O'Brien III of Baltimore, Justin Wiand, Nick Wiand, and Derek Wiand, all of Elwood, IN., and Jacob Carl and Ben Carl both of Manchester. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 6:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Marlene's name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.

Just learned of Marlene's death today. She was my cousin and I had just talked to her on February when she wished me a happy birthday on the 16th of February. Feel very sad about her passing away.
