Timothy Ledgerwood Obituary

Timothy O'Shea Ledgerwood CHARLOTTE - Timothy "Tim" O'Shea Ledgerwood, of Charlotte, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 3, 2017, in St. Moritz, Switzerland, while on vacation with his wife, Connie. He was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to the late Jay Lee Ledgerwood and Catherine Cannon Ledgerwood. He is survived by his wife Connie, son Arron, daughter Carrie and dog Keela. Also surviving are his siblings Kay Dearing (Lin), Bill Ledgerwood (Jane), Sue Foster, Mike Ledgerwood (Fayann, deceased) and many nephews and nieces. Tim was a devoted husband and father. He was especially active in his son's Boy Scout troop, encouraging him to excel to the level of Eagle Scout. After his son graduated from high school, Tim continued to assist other Scout Leaders of Troop 95, leading other young men to accomplish some of their life's goals. He supported his children by his embarrassingly loud cheering at karate lessons, rugby games, gymnastics meets, volleyball games and diving meets. He loved golfing, hiking, Tennessee football, dancing and joke-telling, entertaining family and friends. He was a 1979 graduate of The College of Architecture at the University of Tennessee and has since returned every fall to support his alma mater in football (wearing orange). At Carolinas HealthCare System, where he was an Assistant Vice President/ Operations Leader, Tim was a dedicated, well-loved, conscientious employee and leader who touched the lives of the many people with whom he interacted. A memorial in Tim's honor will be held on Friday, June 16, at 3 pm at Carolinas Medical Center Susan Freeman Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in memory of Tim Ledgerwood to: Mecklenburg County Council-BSA, 1410 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204, The Humane Society of Charlotte Animal Shelter, 2700 Toomey Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203 (http://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/) or to the donor's favorite charity.

I worked at CHS for 16 years and Tim was the most talented AE professional I ever worked with. He always spoke proudly of his family and his trips with the scouts. He also enjoyed beating his friends at golf. RIP Tim - work is complete here.

I met Tim in October, 1988, when he was a new project manager at CHS and I joined as a new property manager. Tim helped me learn my new role and went on to support me over the next 25 years that we worked together. Throughout, he shared the rich details of his life with Connie, Arron and Carrie, whom he loved and cared about deeply. I am sad to learn about Tim's sudden passing but delighted to know that he was enjoying a trip of a lifetime, golfing with friends and hiking with Connie. I am thankful for the opportunity to know and work with Tim. Deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones.

Welcome Home Thou Good and faithful servant.

Tim was a true leader in all aspects of his life. Not everyone understands how hard that can be on a man in this world today, but he handled it with great dignity and pride. I am proud to have worked with him for many years at CMC as a construction team member.

I remember Tim very well from Boy Scout Troop 95. I was one of the few mother's, (Nancy) who took her son, Tommy, through to Eagle Scout as well. Tim was the epitome of the Boy Scout Laws: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. He will be sorely missed.

I remember Tim from grade school, but felt close to him through more recent shared interests that came up in various discussions on social media. I'm deeply saddened to learn of Tim's passing and offer sincere condolences to his family.

We truly never know how we have affected someone's life. But in a moment of hartake such as this may your family see the love you put into this world through friends, co workers, and those unexpected who reach out with stories and prayers. I enjoyed working with you, the many conversations in the break room, and the occasional peak inside your vacation destinations on Facebook. You will be missed by many.

Tim was a loyal scout leader as he moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts and remained with Troop 95 long after Arron graduated from high school. Carrie was also a part of the scouting program as she often came with Tim to the meetings. He will be greatly missed by many. I send my condolences to Connie, Arron, and Carrie. He loved his family!

I knew Tim professionally for almost 20 years. I had the pleasure of working with him at CHS and came to appreciate his analytical view and his transformative leadership style. He was even handed and honest, willing to help all who sought out his advice and counsel. He was the core of our team and his impacts will be felt for many years to come. Tim helped develop one of the top healthcare facilities management teams in the country while being a devoted husband and father and Boy Scout leader. I enjoyed his fellowship on golf outings and collaboration in the workplace. You will always have my respect and appreciation. Peace Be With You.

To say that Tim was special is an understatement. He touched so many lives in the most positive way. We were room mates our last quarter at UT and took our graduation trip to Ft. Lauderdale together. When we reconnected in 2001, I wasn't surprised at how devoted he was to his family, friends, scouts and CMC. Rest in peace brother. We will meet again soon.
