William Royster Obituary

William Tandy Royster
'Pop'
Mr. Royster, 94, of Charlotte, died peacefully December 10, 2009 at home. Born October 30, 1915 in Columbia, SC, Bill was the son of the late Thomas Joseph Royster and Mary Mullikin Royster.
Mr. Royster graduated from Columbia High School and then The University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was a registered Professional Engineer in many states. He worked for the American Bridge Co., Southern Railway, Southern Engineering, Catalytic Contracting, and then retired from Duke Energy. Mr. Royster was a member at Temple Masonic Lodge #676 for over fifty years and a Master Mason in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Hobbies included gardening, fishing, investing and computers. Spending time with his family was Pop's favorite hobby. In earlier years he attended Sardis Presbyterian Church.
Pop was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Eileen Frankland Royster, his parents, his identical twin brother John Irwin Royster, brother Thomas Joseph Royster, Jr., sister Emma Royster and grandsons Steve H. Dial and William Beau Royster.
He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Royster Dial (Steve) of Misenheimer; son William Tandy Royster, Jr. (Laura) of Charlotte; son John Thomas Royster of Mooresville; son James Frankland Royster (Catherine) of Clover, SC; daughter Alma Royster Daniel (Joe) of Surfside Beach, SC; grandchildren Michelle Dial Pawel, Chris Dial, Sonya Dial Sienerth, Tara Dial Mullinix, Tory Dial, Michael Royster, Tandy Royster-Carter, Kelly Royster McGirt, John Royster, Jr., Ben Royster, Sam Royster, Amanda Royster, Joe Daniel III, 12 great-grandchildren and nephew TeeJay Bradford.
Visitation will be Monday, December 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. A Masonic Rites Burial will follow in the Chimes Garden at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to The Steve H. Dial Memorial Scholarship at Pfeiffer University, PO Box 960, Misenheimer NC 28109, Assistance League of Charlotte Endowment Fund, PO Box 471112, Charlotte NC 28247, or a Temple Masonic Lodge of your choice.
The Royster Family is in the care of Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel.
