Jonnie Ruth Davis

1947 - 2024

Jonnie Ruth Davis, 77, of Murphy, North Carolina, peacefully crossed over to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024. She was in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends, and loving memories.
A native and lifetime resident of the Hanging Dog community, Jonnie was a pillar of strength for all who knew and loved her.
She loved her family fiercely and worked hard to provide a welcoming and happy home to all who passed through her door. She was a loving and loyal daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, friend and Mamaw.
Jonnie was gifted with amazing gardening and cooking skills, which she learned from her parents, the late Loren and Maggie Davis of Davis Creek.
She was a lifelong member of Hanging Dog Missionary Baptist Church, where she lovingly served the Lord in many capacities over the years.
She enjoyed decorating and spending time outside working in her flower beds. She loved cooking for and visiting with her family and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her eldest son, Jamie Calvin Davis, and his wife, Crystal Carringer Davis, preceded her in death.
Jonnie's surviving family includes her devoted husband of 60 years, Johnny Calvin Davis; daughter, Dedra Davis and husband Chris; daughter, Sandy Davis Ledford and husband Charles; son, Brian Davis; grandchildren, Corey Baker, Gavin Davis and fiancee Electra Gibby; Adria Jones and husband Loren; Elijah Davis, Luke Davis, Kaitlynn Davis, Kaiden Davis, Toby Davis, Angel Ivester and husband Jason; Charlie (C.B.) Ledford and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Ivester, Victoria Ivester, Jamie Alice Jones and James Calvin Davis. Jonnie had a special bond with her two sisters, Opal Radford and husband Ab; and Debbie McDonald and husband Steve. Jonnie also had many special cousins, dear nieces and nephews, and a beloved church family.
A celebration of Jonnie's life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Garth Cook officiating. The interment was in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Corey Baker, Gavin Davis, Loren Jones, Elijah Davis, Luke Davis and Kaiden Davis. Honorary pallbearer was Toby Davis.
The family received friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the services.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
