Louise Gilbert Obituary
She was a native of Andrews, South Carolina, and moved to Andrews, North Carolina, in 1968.
She taught at Murphy High School for 12 years.
Louise was a faithful member of Andrews United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and taught Sunday School for many years. She was active with many other programs and activities within the church.
She was the daughter of the late Pauline Richardson Price and Simpson Eugene Price Jr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Morris; two brothers, Simpson Eugene Price III and Charles Price.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Lee Gilbert, from Andrews, N.C. Louise and Roy met at a square dance at the University of Tennessee and again, fortunately, several weeks later at the cafeteria. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Also surviving are a daughter, Judy Ann Nay and husband Robert ""Bob"" of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons, David Michael Gilbert and wife Cynthia of Knoxville, Tenn., and Daniel Lee Gilbert and wife Jenny of Anderson, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Doris Price of Andrews, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Jacob Gilbert, Elizabeth Gilbert Prats and husband Joe, Ruth Nay Santos and husband Jordan, Joshua Nay and wife Brionna, Rachel Nay Shelton and husband Josh, Zachary Gilbert, Andrew Gilbert and Loren Gilbert; also, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Andrews United Methodist Church with Chaplain Bob Nay and the Rev. Sara Scruggs officiating. The interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jacob Gilbert, Joe Prats, Joshua Nay, Jordan Santos, Josh Shelton, Zachary Gilbert and Andrew Gilbert.
The family will receive friends from 2-2:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Andrews United Methodist Church, prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Louise Pauline Gilbert to Andrews United Methodist Church, ""Welcome Table"" Ministry, 101 Chestnut St., Andrews, NC 28901.
