Tommy Cheek Obituary

Tommy Cheek, 79, of Resaca, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, in Calhoun, Ga., at Advent Health Gordon.
He was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Turtletown, Tenn., to the late Rassie Woodrow Cheek Sr. and Sally Kimsey Cheek.
Tommy honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was also a member and past master of Coosawattee Lodge No. 306 F&AM, where he served as past master. Tommy retired from General Motors in Hapeville, Ga., after 27 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Loudermilk Cheek; and sister, Jerry Runion.
Tommy is survived by his beloved children, Thomas Woodrow Cheek of Canton, Ga., and Charles Edward Cheek (Lynette) of Murphy, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brittan Exum and Radford Cheek; two step-grandchildren, Ethen Dunn and Kody Dunn; siblings, John Cheek (Clairetta), Larry Cheek, Rassie Cheek Jr. (Wanda), and Ronnie Cheek; many other dear relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, from Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Masonic Rites were provided by Ducktown Lodge No. 241 F&AM. Serving as pallbearers were Lynn Cheek, Derek Cheek, Doug Cheek, Leslie Cheek, Eddie Cheek, Randall Wilcox and Russell Loudermilk.
The family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Cheek be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mitchell Loudermilk, 1780 Donley Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
