Tracy Lynette Foster

Tracy Lynette Foster 54, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, in an ATV accident.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was a 1988 graduate of Murphy High School and later earned a teaching degree from Western Carolina University.
Tracy worked at the Cherokee County Courthouse as assistant clerk of court for 18 years. She then worked at St. William Catholic Church as a secretary for several years, where she made many new friends. Tracy finally worked at Tri-County Community College as the event coordinator for over five years.
Tracy loved being at the lake; boating, water skiing, and simply spending time with friends in the Big Choga neighborhood. She enjoyed raising flowers and never let a day pass without some ice cream.
Her love for her family and friends shown through her beautiful smile. Tracy adored children, many of whom called her Mama T. Her explosive personality was one of a kind and unforgettable. Helping others in need brought joy to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Casey Foster.
She was the daughter of Lewis and Pat Mosteller Foster of Murphy.
In addition to her parents, former husband, Gordon Fairlie; she is also survived by a son, Trevor Fairlie; a niece, McKenzie Heny and husband, Zach; nephew, Daylon Foster Clarkson; a special aunt, Melissa Hicks and many other loving aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Music will be provided by Joseph Foster.
Interment will take place in Valleytown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, prior to the service.
