Alan Shulman Obituary

Alan Louis Shulman, 80, CFO of Meade Electric Company, passed away December 3, 2014. A lifelong Chicagoan, Alan attended Hibbard Elementary and Von Steuben High School before graduating from Drake University. Son of the late Cecelia (nee Kottler) and Irwin Shulman, Alan is survived by his wife, June Shulman (nee Hill); sister, Jane Horwitz (nee Shulman); cousins, Susan (Mel) Newman, and Joan (Cliff) Bregstone; niece, Gail Grimmett and nephew, Irwin Horwitz; beloved cat, Monty; and a multitude of friends and colleagues. The consummately well-dressed gentleman, Alan loved life and lived it well. Without need for a bucket list, he celebrated every sunrise, filling each moment with joy, boundless generosity, irreverent humor, kindness and an open-hearted smile for everyone. He adored his work, blackjack, cake donuts with chocolate icing, time with friends, cats, new cars and driving fast. Born of a musical and artistic family, he loved modern art and symphonic music as well as country-western, to the astonishment of many of his friends. He was a life-long frustrated, but devoted and ever-hopeful Chicago sports fan. A celebration of his life is planned for Spring, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Rush University Medical Center Parkinson's Disease Program, Teresa Chmura, 312-942-8002. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Illinois, 773-281-5058 or www.cremation-society.com.

I only knew Mr. Shulman for about 4 years as an employee of his. His humor was sweet and I enjoyed our smoke breaks when he smoked. I will miss him asking what is for lunch at 7:00 am and then around 10:30 (when are you going for lunch?). Respectfully
